Creating Soybean Food Plot
I planted a 3.5 acre soybean food plot by broadcasting and then dragging it in. The drag did not cover the seeds enough and after a heavy rain we discovered most were exposed to the sun. The rain prior to that caused them to begin germination, but they mostly died after being dried out in the sun while lying on top of the dirt. The second planting was a lot more seed and was disced in and then ran over with a cultipacker. Since then we have had very little rain. So far things are still growing, but the deer are eating them almost as fast or faster than they can grow during this drought. The food plot is looking alright but I believe a fence around the beans is in the near future. Thanks for watching!!

Discing Food Plot with MASSEY FERGUSON 35
Переглядів 1,6 тис.День тому
Discing the 10 acre field before we plant the food plot. The field was plowed with a Ferguson 2 bottom 12' moldboard plow. I used my Massey Ferguson 35 to plow and disc the field. We'll be planting beans, corn, sorghum, buckwheat, sunflowers, and oats in the food plot. The first things to be planted will be the beans and corn, that video will be coming soon. Thanks for watching!
Plowing With MASSEY FERGUSON 35
Переглядів 45114 днів тому
I'm using a Massey Ferguson 35 with a two bottom 12" moldboard plow to plow a new food plot. The tractor is a 1960 Ferguson TO 35 model with the Z134 Continental engine. The rear tires of the tractor are loaded with fluid and the front wheels have small weights attached. The food plot is approximately 8 acres in size, but a large wet spot limited me to only 7 acres or so. Thanks for watching!
Late Planted Beans and Peas 4 Week Food Plot Update
Переглядів 2,1 тис.Рік тому
Food plot update of a late planted beans and cowpea food plot. Planted 4 weeks and 3 weeks ago. The plot also has buckwheat and sunflowers added. The sunflowers never germinated for some reason. The plot was plated in mid-August. The beans were nipped off by the deer in the first two weeks of growth but the cowpeas are still doing okay. The cowpeas will mature in 100 days. Around the 3rd week i...

Coyote Down and The Tractor is Fixed!
Переглядів 2562 роки тому
I was finally able to take one of the hundreds of coyotes. A male coyote weighing around 35 pounds. It looks like I got lucky since I was reminded the following night of how inaccurate my AR is. Or how bad of a shot I am. The tractor is running fine since I installed the new cap and rotor. I also did my best to adjust the timing to 26 degrees, but it was tough. The numbers on the flywheel were ...

Planting Spring Buckwheat food Plot in East Texas
Переглядів 1,9 тис.2 роки тому
I finished seeding most of the food plots where I hunt in East Texas. I spread the seed on March 30th and luckily had a nice rain shortly after. I planted buckwheat as cover and smother crop for my summer blend. The buckwheat was broadcasted at a rate of 40 pounds per acre. This is the first time I've planted a food plot using this method. Check back soon for updates.
Planting Buckwheat and Spraying the Oats and Wheat
Переглядів 5282 роки тому
I was able to broadcast the Buckwheat in the old Iron and clay cowpea plot. After I spread the buckwheat, I sprayed the existing oats and wheat with 4% glyphosate. After watching the video, it looks like the droplets coming out of the sprayer were much finer than I liked. I got new spray nozzles that are a little larger and should help. The threat of frost should be gone down here in east Texas...
Preparing A Brand-New Food Plot for Buckwheat!!
Переглядів 3632 роки тому
We cleared off an old log landing from the year before and got it ready to spread some buckwheat. After the soil temperature warms up, we will broadcast the summer blend and then lay the buckwheat over top of it. I also found a decent place for another long narrow food plot that I disced up. That is all! Thanks for watching!
First Bobcat trapped!

We set a bunch of traps just for one night. The next morning we had a Bobcat very close to the cabin. The Bobcat was the only thing we caught that night.. That makes 3 bobcats that have been taken off of the property in the last 2 years. There are plenty more here, I'm sure.
Fall food Plot Update!
Переглядів 3812 роки тому
This small food plot is a combination of Whitetail Institute Pure Attraction, 50 pounds of oats, and Whitetail Institute clover. The food plot is approximately 50 days old at this point and growing well. We haven't had a freeze yet, but it won't be long and then we'll see how the cold hardy oats hold up.
Building a Deer Path!

I cut a path through the "woods" approximately 200 yards in length with a grass cutter and a rake. The lower end of the path is at the field plot where we had Iron and Clay Cowpeas. The upper end of the path is a location that didn't have a food plot until the day the path was made. It was planted with 50 lbs of wheat and 50 lbs of oats. I placed a trail camera near the halfway point in the pat...

I sat in the new food plot that is only 2 weeks old since planting. The plot is 50 lbs of oats and a bag of Whitetail Institute Pure Attraction along with Imperial Whitetail Clover. I sat at the food plot with little expectations of seeing any deer but saw a doe that evening and a small buck the following morning. The plot is near the center of a large stand of hardwood trees that are dropping ...
New Food Plot Update and Stand Placement

Two week update at the crash plot that was planted in Whitetail Institute Pure Attraction along with an additional 50 pounds of oats.
